Chelsea Project
A refined interior decoration in one of London's most prestigious neighbourhoods
This project involved a full interior decoration of a stunning property in Chelsea, SW3. Our team worked closely with the client to deliver a flawless finish across all rooms, combining meticulous surface preparation with premium paints and materials.
Every detail was carefully considered — from the crisp lines on skirting boards to the smooth, consistent finish on feature walls — to meet the exacting standards expected in this prestigious location.
What the client asked for
The client wanted their Chelsea home redecorated throughout to a standard that matched the property itself — an even, hard-wearing finish across every room, with the joinery and detailing treated as carefully as the walls.
Interior painting in Chelsea SW3 usually means working in an occupied period home on a residential street, so the practical side of the brief mattered as much as the finish. We agreed a room-by-room sequence that kept the household functioning around us, with the working area contained and cleared down at the end of each day.
Twelve weeks, room by room
The programme ran for twelve weeks on site and covered the interior in full:
- Walls and ceilings throughout the property
- Skirting boards, architraves, door frames and internal doors
- Cornicing, picture rails and decorative plaster detailing
- Staircase, landings and hallway woodwork
- Feature walls finished to a higher specification than the surrounding rooms
Getting the surfaces flat
Preparation is where an interior repaint is won or lost, and it accounted for a substantial share of the time on site. Existing coatings were assessed room by room, any loose or unsound material removed, and cracks and nail holes filled and sanded flat. Joints between woodwork and plaster were re-caulked so the finished lines read straight, and previously bare or repaired areas were spot-primed before the first full coat.
Period plaster rarely behaves consistently from one wall to the next, so absorbency was checked as we went and primers adjusted rather than applied uniformly. Floors, fittings and fixed furniture were sheeted and masked throughout, and dust was controlled at source during sanding.
Paint and colour
Premium paints were specified throughout, chosen for the demands of each surface: a durable, washable finish for high-traffic circulation areas, and a harder-wearing coating on the joinery, which takes the most contact. Colours were confirmed with the client on site under the property's own light before any full coat was applied — a step that avoids the common problem of a shade reading differently in a Chelsea room than it does on a chart.
How it looks now
The finished interior reads as one continuous scheme rather than a set of separately decorated rooms — consistent sheen across the walls, crisp cut-in lines where colours meet, and joinery that looks newly fitted rather than repainted. The property was left clean and fully reinstated on completion.
It is the level of craftsmanship our clients across Chelsea, Kensington and the surrounding SW3 area have come to expect, and the reason most of our work comes through referral.
