Modernus is Kamil Kaminski and Przemek Stolarski. Each has more than 15 years of hands-on experience painting and decorating London homes, and most of their work now comes through referral.
How we work in your home
- Protection first. Floors, fittings and furniture are sheeted and masked before any work starts.
- Preparation done properly. Filling, sanding, caulking and priming before the first full coat.
- Colours checked in your light. Samples go on your walls before a colour is committed to.
- Cleared down every day. The working area is tidied at the end of each day, so the house stays liveable.

Common questions
How do you prepare the surfaces?
Loose or unsound paint is removed, cracks and holes are filled and sanded flat, joints between woodwork and plaster are re-caulked, and bare or repaired areas are primed before the first full coat.
How do you protect our furniture and floors?
Floors, fittings and fixed furniture are sheeted and masked throughout, and dust is controlled at source while sanding.
If the house is furnished, you don’t need to clear the rooms. We move the furniture and cover everything with protective sheeting ourselves.
Do you supply the paint?
Yes. We supply the paint and its cost is included in the quote. If you would rather use your own, tell us when we talk the job through and we will agree it before quoting.
Can you work while we're living in the house?
Yes. We usually work room by room so the household can carry on around us, and the working area is cleared down at the end of each day.
Do you visit before giving a quote?
Yes. We visit to see the surfaces and agree the scope, and the written quote usually follows one to three days later. A large project that needs a quantity surveyor takes longer.
How soon can you start?
It depends on the work we have on at the time, so we would rather not promise a date up front. Tell us how urgent your deadline is and we will plan around it.
